During the university inauguration of the new academic year on 1st October, 2015 Timothy S. Mescon (senior vice president and chief officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa for AACSB International) handed a certificate of AACSB accreditation to Prof. Dr hab. Józef Stawicki, Dean of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management.
According to the decision of the Initial Accreditation Committee of 5 August, 2015 ratified by the AACSB Board of Directors on 12 August 2015, the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management as the first and the only state university in Poland received this very prestigious business AACSB accreditation. At present only an elite group of less than 5% of all business schools in the world (including nearly 740 institutions from 50 countries) has been awarded this accreditation. The accreditation was granted for the period of 5 years.
On 10-13 May 2015 the Faculty of Economics and Management was visited by the AACSB Peer Review Team (PRT) composed of Professor Joyce J. Elam (Dean of University College, Florida International University), Professor Jacob Chacko (Dean of the College of Business Administration, Abu Dhabi University) and Professor Rudy Martens (Dean of the Faculty of Applied Economics, University of Antwerp). This visit was successful and the members of the Commission emphasized our hospitality and atmosphere at the Faculty.
In February 2015 the AACSB Accreditation Self-Evaluation Report developed by FESM was sent to AACSB International.
At the end of December 2014 the Peer Review Team to visit FESM was formed.
The Chairperson of the team is Professor Joyce J. Elam, Dean of University College, Florida International University (http://business.fiu.edu/faculty/faculty_experts.cfm?FlagDirectory=Display&User=elamj).
Two other members of the PRT are Professor Jacob Chacko, Dean of College of Business Administration, Abu Dhabi University (http://www.adu.ac.ae/college-of-business-administration.html; https://www.linkedin.com/pub/jacob-chacko/12/a07/a74) and Professor Rudy Martens, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Economics, University of Antwerp (https://www.uantwerpen.be/en/staff/rudy-martens/).

On May 2nd 2014 the Initial Accreditation Committee AACSB International accepted the second report prepared by FESM on the implementation of the AACSB standards at FESM (Standards Alignment Plan Implementation Report 2014).
On 1March 2014 the second report - ‘Standards Alignment Plan Implementation Report 2014’ developed by FESM was sent to the AACSB International.
On December 9th and 10th, 2013 the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management was visited by Michael Bryant, AACSB Mentor, Dean of Groupe ESC Clermont, Graduate School of Management in Clermont-Ferrand in France. The meeting with the Mentor was the last one before the accreditation visit.
During his stay at FESM the Mentor participated in various meetings with the University authorities, members of the AACSB Accreditation team, faulty members, administrational staff and FESM students.
The success of thetalks, reliable implementation of the fifth (out of seven) stage of the accreditation process, and above all the Mentor’s positive opinion fill us with optimism and show that in the next two years FESM has a very good chance of obtaining AACSB accreditation. It should also be emphasized that FESM- as a NCU unit - may be the first public university in Poland with this prestigious accreditation.
On 05 April, 2013 theInitial Accreditation Committee accepted the report prepared by FESM on the implementation of the AACSB standards at FESM (Standards Alignment Plan Implementation Report 2013).
On 08 February, 2013 the report on the degree of realization of the Standards Alignment Plan prepared by FESM was sent to AACSB International, (Standards Alignment Plan Implementation Report 2013).
On November 28 and 29, 2012 Michael Bryant, AACSB Mentor, Dean of Groupe ESC Clermont, Graduate School of Management in Clermont-Ferrand in France visited FESM.
During his visit, the Mentor had many meetings with the University authorities, members of the AACSB Accreditation Team, scientific faculty, administration staff, and FESM students.
The positive outcome of the talks, the successful realization of the fifth stage of the accreditation process (out of the total of seven stages), and, primarily, a positive evaluation given by the Mentor indicate that within the 2/3-year time horizon FESM has chances to earn AACSB accreditation. It must be emphasized that FESM, as an organizational unit of Nicolaus Copernicus University, may become the first state school in Poland that is AACSB-accredited.
On 28 September, 2012 during a meeting between Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Zdzisław Markuszewski, Ph.D. and students of the first year of undergraduate studies a series of informational meetings for FESM students was inaugurated. These cyclical meetings are intended to provide students with information on the realization of the AACSB accreditation process at FESM.
On 20 July, 2012 a plaque presenting the FESM mission statement was unveiled. The mission statement has the following wording:
