Dr. Stanislaw Rakowicz, Honorary Consul of Peru in Poland and former chairman of the Business Council operating at the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management, was awarded the Order of the Jose Gregorio Paz Soldan for Meritorious Service in the Diplomatic Service of Peru with the rank of Commander, presented by Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to Poland Hubert Wieland Conroy. The event took place on November 10 at the Old Town Hall, and was addressed by the Dean of FESM, Dr. Jerzy Boehlke, Prof. of NCU.

Dr. Stanislaw Rakowicz's managerial positions included working at ZACHEM and STOMIL in Bydgoszcz, managing the Bydgoszcz Cable Factory, the Turntable Bearing Combine in Kielce and Toruń's ELANA. In 1988, he became the first private entrepreneur in Poland to become governor of Toruń. He later founded a company importing cars from abroad. He is currently honorary president of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Toruń, honorary consul of Peru in Toruń and rector of the Higher School of Technology and Entrepreneurship in Włocławek. He published the book "The Beginnings of the Era of Managers in Poland."

His ties with NCU continued even after graduation. While working at ZACHEM, he participated in the organization of the Evening Study of Chemistry at NCU, giving a master's degree in Chemical Technology. Together with the directors of several large companies in the region, he helped materially in establishing the NCU Institute of Economics. As director of ELANA, he established cooperation with various departments at the NCU, and lectured on the organization of managerial work at the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management.

In 1988, he received a doctorate in economic sciences for his dissertation on business management. As governor of Toruń (1988-1990), he contributed to the expansion of the headquarters of the university's economists by providing a grant to cover half the cost of building the faculty. He was a co-initiator of the establishment of the Toruń Business School of the WNE of the University of Toruń. He was a co-founder of the Amicus Universitatis Nicolai Copernici Foundation. As honorary consul of Peru, he provided financial and organizational support for various student and academic endeavors, including research on the contribution of Poles to the development of Peru.

The award was in honor of Dr. Rakowicz's 25 years of service, having just completed his consular mission.
