NCU MOTION Project Coordinator, Dr. Aranka Ignasiak-Szulc, cordially invites students of the Faculty of Economics and Management and the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management to take part in the Intensive Study Programmes (ISP) from the series "DESIGNING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE".
This time there is an opportunity to go abroad:
- on April 24-30 to Granada (Spain);
- on June 5-11 to Rovaniemi (Finland).
The events will take place as part of the project entitled MOTION 2020-2023 FroM Overtourism To Innovating Sustainable sOlutions in the EU, implemented by our University together with foreign partners: Laurea University of Applied Sciences (Finland), Kiel University of Applied Sciences (Germany), University of Granada and the municipality of Monachil (Spain), Klaipėda University (Lithuania) with social partners. The project received funding from the Erasmus + Strategic Partnerships Program, contract number: 2020-1-FI01-KA203-066543.
ISPs are events aimed at students from universities forming the international MOTION consortium. Throughout the week, teams of 5 students (representing different partners) will learn about research methods (e.g. in the field of Future Thinking), and the aim of ISP is to develop ideas for new services in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. The basis is the analysis of real case studies of tourism companies, this time from Andalusia or Lapland!
Intensive work in an international company will be a challenge, but it will certainly provide a lot of satisfaction, especially for people interested in the sustainable development of tourism. An additional bonus is obtaining 5 ECTS (confirmed by a certificate of participation).
We are currently looking for 10 students (5 for a trip to Spain and 5 to Finland) who will be representatives of the Nicolaus Copernicus University during both events. The meetings will be held in English, the presentation of a language certificate is not required, but it will be an advantage. Due to the design requirements presented by the Coordinator from Finland, first-cycle students have priority in recruitment. The safety policy in force in the draft requires that participants are fully vaccinated and give consent to a possible COVID-19 test (the so-called rapid test) before the start of classes. In case of non-EU citizens, they must hold necessary visas or meet any other requirements to travel in the EU freely.
The project budget includes funds to finance the group's travel and stay during ISP (hostel standard accommodation, basic meals, travel). Due to the very high level of air ticket prices to both locations, it is possible to travel (in these locations rather only partially) by train or bus. Students should be insured on their own (not refinanced from the project, with option with coverage of possible quarantine costs), have their own masks (FFP2, new for each day of the event). If a qualified group decides to extend the stay (e.g. due to more convenient air connections), the participants are responsible for paying for additional nights. You must have funds for additional personal expenses (pay attention to high prices, especially in Finland!). You may need to (partially) pay ahead your travel costs (to be refunded upon return).
If you have any questions, please join information meetings (on-line) with the MOTION coordinator on next Monday (21.03.2022) at 10 and 16. Team code on Teams: yevxdvc
Recruitment takes place by sending the application form with an attachment letter.
You can apply for both trips, but you can only qualify for one of them. The application deadline is Friday, March 25!
