On 19 February 2025, during this year's University Celebration, the title of honoris causa of the NCU on the initiative of our Faculty was awarded to Prof Oded Galor, a prominent economist from Brown University in Providence.

One of his most important achievements is the creation and development of a unified theory of growth that integrates insights from history, biology and economics and explains the transition of societies from millennial stagnation to sustainable economic growth. His groundbreaking book entitled. ‘Unified Growth Theory’ (2011) is widely regarded as a cornerstone of the field.

A day later, on 20 February 2025, our Faculty hosted the events surrounding this year's University Celebration - Professor Galor's research seminar entitled ‘The Roots of Inequality. ‘The Roots of Inequality’ and a convention of deans of economic and management faculties of Polish universities. During the seminar, Professor Galor will present the historical and economic conditions of inequality and discuss the possibilities of mitigating it in the context of contemporary challenges. The speech was the starting point for a discussion on the long-term effects of inequality and its impact on socio-economic development.

At 13:00, in turn, a meeting of deans of economics and management faculties of Polish universities began. The discussion focused on key questions:
- Are our disciplines keeping up with market, technological and social changes?
- How to strengthen the position of economic and social sciences on the international stage?
- Can cooperation and healthy competition between faculties become an engine for development?

The meeting was an opportunity to exchange experiences and launch joint initiatives for the development of science and education.
