
On 18-19 February 2025, Dr Mateusz Tomanek and Dr Andrzej Geise participated in an international meeting at the University of Lisbon in Portugal, inaugurating a project entitled LAENOG - Latin American European Network in Social Support for Online Gaming, co-financed by the European Commission.
The project is being carried out within a consortium of universities and partner organisations comprising:
- University of Lisbon (Portugal),
- Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun (Poland),
- University of Castilla-La Mancha (Spain),
- Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil),
- Salgado de Oliveira Educational and Cultural Association (Associacao Salgado de Oliveira e Educacao e Cultura, Brazil),
- Technological University of Panama (Panama),
- Las Américas Specialised University (Universidad Especializada de Las Américas, Panama),
- Sport Evaluation Alliance CRL (Portugal),
- Esport Europe - The European Esports Federation (Slovakia).
The LAENOG project is an international partnership of academic institutions and researchers from Europe and Latin America to create a leading support platform for young video game players (YVGP) and their parents and educators. The main aim of the initiative is to raise awareness of toxic behaviour in online gaming environments and to support young gamers and their carers. A team from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń is responsible for analysing the literature that will be used to develop the project's research tools.
The next consortium meeting is scheduled for 2-4 June 2025 and will be held in Toruń.
